On your marks. Get set. Pokémon Go!

Pokémon Go!

The craze has started. People everywhere have started looking for Pokémon to capture. We think this game is great because it gets people outside, meeting up with others, exercising etc. However, we would like to remind people to play safely and to do so, we have decided to provide some tips for both adults and children.

  • Don’t Pokémon and drive. Should be self-explanatory, but people are doing it. Please don’t risk your lives and the lives of others.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings. It’s very easy to get lost in the game and find yourself walking into streets. That’s how people have gotten hit by cars already. Staying alert keeps you from getting hurt!
  • Don’t go where it’s dark. People could be hiding in that place waiting for you.
  • Don’t go in unknown areas. You could be going into bad areas or simply trespassing.
  • Children should go in pairs or groups. Safety in numbers still applies.

Don’t let our safety tips scare you. By staying alert and playing safely, you can get a lot of exercise, catch a lot of Pokémon, and most importantly, have a lot of fun!

But stay away from Pikachu. He’s mine!

Edit: On 7-22-2016, I saw this posted by a friend of mine and asked her if I could quote her. She said:

Well, it’s official. As of last night, I’ve walked 100K in the last 8 days playing Pokemon GO. My son and I are having a blast. Visiting different parks & historical monuments, hiking all over the place, and enjoying nature. Who would’ve thought a video game could motivate you to do all of that?
